  FUMC is serving a meal at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen THIS SUNDAY, November 23, 2014.  Volunteers are still needed. Anyone interested in volunteering should see Jill Bennett after church or call her at 860-345-7382.
 
Upper Room Devotionals are available at the entrance to the Ballroom. These devotionals offer a short reading and reflection for each day. Please take one home.
  
Sing with the Choir. Choir practice is held at 9:15 each Sunday morning at the Elk’s Lodge. All are welcome and encouraged to participate. Come gather around the piano.
 
There is a Charge Conference this Tuesday, November 25th. The Charge Conference will be held at Russell Library in Middletown at 7:30 p.m. in meeting Room 2. Please contact Cyndi in the church office with any questions at 860-346-3689.
 
Advent Study to begin Sunday, November 30th, immediately following coffee hour.  We will examine and discuss each of the individual nativity stories. Please join us.  Contact Stefanie Bennett for more information.
 
Sew ‘n’ Sew meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  They will next meet Tuesday, December 9th at 10 a.m. at Heritage Commons.  Please contact Isabelle Mullen for further information at 860-344-1942.
 
Sunday Breakfast – Join us for breakfast the second Sunday of each month at the Elk’s Lodge.  Breakfast will next be held Sunday, December 14th. A great breakfast is served downstairs from the ballroom, starting at 8:00 a.m. for just $6.00. Join us for fellowship and breakfast and then come upstairs to worship.
 
Remember your cereal and tuna fish donations, the first Sunday of each month, for Amazing Grace Food Pantry. Contact Dara Parent at 860-347-5078 for further information.
 
The Coordinator of Rides to The Elk’s Lodge in Middletown is Jill Bennett.  Please contact Jill at 860-345-7382 if you are in need of a ride to our new location.

 Sunday Breakfast – Join us for breakfast the second Sunday of each month at the Elk’s Lodge.  Breakfast will be held THIS SUNDAY, November 9th. A great breakfast is served downstairs from the ballroom, starting at 8:00 a.m. for just $6.00. Join us for fellowship and breakfast and then come upstairs to worship.
 
BYOB: Bring Your Own Bible. While we worship at the Elk’s Lodge we will supply the hymnals but we ask that you bring your own Bible. Don’t have your own bible? Talk to Stefanie at 1(860) 946-3121 or email her at stefanielbennett@gmail.com and she will get you one.
 
A Special Offering for the Dinner at Society of St. Vincent is being taken. This will go towards buying ingredients for the meal FUMC is preparing and serving at the soup kitchen on November 23rd. Checks can be made out to FUMC and placed in the envelopes provided in Sunday's bulletin or they can be mailed to FUMC at P.O. Box 65, Middletown, CT 06457. Contact Jill Bennett at 860-345-7382 with questions about participating in the project.

The November meeting of the Finance Committee will be held this Wednesday November 12th at 7 p.m. at the cottage of Doris and Jim Swain in Covenant Village. The committee will be preparing the 2015 budget and 2014 annual report for the charge conference scheduled for November 23rd.   Any special budget requests or changes should be emailed to Nancy Burton and Warren Western by Monday evening November 10th.
 
Bible Sunday will be Sunday, November 16th. We will be celebrating by giving bibles to children in third grade and above. Do you know a child who would like to receive a bible? Please call the church office at 860-346-3689.
