Christmas Eve Service
For more than 80 years First United Methodist Church in Middletown has celebrated the birth of Christ with a service that includes a pageant offered by the children and youth of the church. Please come and join us at 7:30 PM for this beautiful event!
Book Group will meet the fourth Wednesday of each month, at 7 p.m. The group will read and discuss a variety of books, both fiction and nonfiction. The first book to be discussed will be “The New Jim Crow” on September 26th in the Parlor.
Book Group to Start in September
FUMC will start a book discussion group this fall. We will meet the fourth Wednesday of each month, at 7PM. The group will read and discuss a variety of books, both fiction and nonfiction. We will decide on future book selections when we meet, but we have a couple of books to get things started.
Our first book will be The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander. It was discussed at the Board of Church and Society Dinner at the New York Annual Conference. It should spark an interesting, important and lively discussion.
In October we will read and discuss Gilead by Marilynne Robinson. It is a wonderful novel about a pastor in Iowa.
If you like to read this is a great opportunity to join a conversation about good books. Bring suggestions for future reading and discussion to the meeting in September so we can establish a schedule for our gatherings. If you have any questions please contact Stefanie Bennett at the church office or via email [stefaniebennett@gmail.com]
New Members
We welcome Jennifer and Jarod Proto, along with their daughter Elise, and Pattie Flint as our newest members in the community of faith.
We celebrate the baptism of William Perry.
We look forward to growing in faith and discipleship with you.
