Announcements:
Council Meeting – THIS SUNDAY, immediately following worship. ALL are invited to attend.
Our Annual Sunday Evening Meal for the St. Vincent DePaul Soup kitchen will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015. This has been a fun event and our Methodist cooking has always been well received by the soup kitchen guests! There are many ways you can help with this mission project. We will need donations for the paper/plastic ware (small plates, bowls, spoons, cups) and for the groceries to feed 150 people. We also need VOLUNTEERS to: cook the soup at home (5 volunteers), bring it to the soup kitchen or arrange to have it picked up, set up and serve the meal to the soup kitchen guests and clean up after the meal. The Missions Committee will put together soup making kits with recipe and soup ingredients for those cooking the soup. The meal will be soup, bread and cheese, cookies and coffee or tea. Anyone interested in volunteering should see Jill Bennett after church or call her at home at 860-345-7382. Sign-up sheet is also available.
Amazing Grace Donations – On November 22nd we will be accepting perishable items during the offertory to be distributed later that day as we serve in mission at St Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen.
There will be a Charge Conference on January 5th. Charge Conference Reports are due NO LATER THAN Wednesday, December 2nd. Please send an electronic copy of your report to Cyndi in the church office at churchoffice@fumcmiddletownct.org. All committee chairs and church leaders are expected to provide a charge conference report. Please contact Cyndi in the church office with any questions at 860-346-3689.
Advent Study- SENT- As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them -John 17:18. God sent Christ into the world as our Savior. That’s what Christmas is all about. In turn, Christ sends us into the world. But do we really understand how, where, and why we are sent? This church-wide Advent study challenges us through story, art, and Bible study to discover what it means to be Christ’s hands, feet, head, and heart. Centered around a DVD with 8-10 minute videos it is created by a group of dynamic pastors. FUMC will begin this Advent Study starting Sunday, November 29th following worship/fellowship at 11:30. Please sign up today so that books can be ordered or call the Church office to reserve a place.
